I was shocked and saddened by the news of John's passing. He had called me only three weeks ago. We talked quite a bit over these past years.
I know of no one more concerned and committed to the success of the C&TS. Chile John would often remind me that he still had a copy of the TWA AMBASSADOR feature article on the C&TS from 1970's..that I produced and photographed.
John was concerned about his inability to find work in Canon City.
John and I shared many memories of that fall of 1970..at the beginning, when we were there together.
I hope someone will consider blowing a "Whistle salute" to John's memory, perhaps rounding Windy Point. I can think of nothing more moving and I am positive that John will be looking down from Heaven, and smiling. His good works for the C&TS will live on.
Rest in peace good friend. I will miss you a lot.
Every time I hear the whistle of a K-36, I will remember what a mover and a shaker you were...and I will think fondly of you and remember your significant contribution to the C&TS
