So often the woodwork of passenger cars is equivalent to the work done for a fine front parlor or the cabinets that would be part of the front parlor.

At one time the better houses had a front parlor that was used only when visitors where on hand or during special events. It was very seldom used at other times. It is something like have a living room, but keeping the family out of it and in the back family room.
