Hiya Ted,
I don't remember any other train related pictures other than the ones I bought. There were some slide sets of Mesa Verde, Aztec Ruins, etc. but thats about it. I did take a couple of girlfriends there for banana splits like Durango teenagers had done for decades. It was charming and I didn't even know it!
I was talking with Fred Folk today and he said he just found some of his old slides that were duplicates of the ones I posted that also had Richie's Store printed on the cardboard. I believe that in Sundance's RGS XI, the book about Durango, has pictures of the interior of Richie's Store...
During the summers of 71 and 72, before I had a driver's license, I posted "Welcome To Durango...whatever group was arriving" posters for the Durango Chamber Of Commerce every week, sometimes twice a week. I went into every business on Main and Second Avenues between 5th and 15th, as well as the side streets. I really got to see the old businesses before things really changed. I can also remember riding my bike downtown in the evening and there were 7 places on Main between the depot and 8th Street that had live music! Fiddle player "Gatemouth" Brown was one of the regular acts at the Gold Slipper. I also remember the day bartender at the El Rancho. She looked like a Madam right out of the old west, complete with pancake makeup! Unlike the girls at the Strater, she wasn't doing it for the showbiz angle! Ah, what I could've learned if I'd only had a quarter...
