"Were the two Marshall turns full tonnage? If they were it looked like the two turns could have lifted about 40 cars to the top. That would have left 11 cars at Marshall and 22 cars at Sargent.
I couple more questions. Was tonnage reduced on the eastbound train to Salida due to the cold? Was there an engine house at Sargent for the 498?"

In viewing turns on other days it appears that full tonnage is around 18 loads per turn. On this day they were dealing with snow conditions which no doubt contributed to running with lower tonnage. A Salida-Sargent turn with flanger oprated that day, returning eastbound a few hours ahead of the first turn.

The first turn left 12 loads at the top. The second turn had 17 loads, these were combined for the 29 loads into Salida.

Regarding engine house at Sargent: There was a 6 stall roundhouse located there.
