Train No. 425 left Antonito with 8 loads. This included RPO 61 and coach 306. Three of the loads were set out enroute, including a car of pipe for Espanola.

The need for a helper and flanger was due to snow conditions. The flanger had been set out at Taos Jct but engine 470 stayed on as helper until reaching Barranca. Engine 470 turned there and waited for No. 426 and used as helper from there to Antonito.
