The spring is finally here and the new railfan season will soon be underway. This morning I witnessed what I feel is an unbelieveable act of foolishness; a young man taking a photo of my train moved to take another shot by crossing IN FRONT of my moving train. I wasn't moving fast but I big holed anyway.
I have seen this all to many times, photographers wanting that "great shot" at the expense of there own safety. I would wish to remind you all that this hobby can be dangerous and that if you haven't packed common sense in your camera bag you are a danger to yourself and others. Please stay at least 10 feet away from the rail. Never try to take a picture of an approching train standing between the rails, in a tunnel, a cut or on a tressle. Be aware of your surroundings.
The Shay I run isn't a big engine but it does weigh 400 times as much as you do. Please be careful.
