Try to think of it this way...rather than a K-27 whistle, but a whistle that came off of a K-27. I only say this because I don't think that the entire class was limited to the exact same specs of whistle. It does appear that the Grande did have a fondness for cast 5 chimes though.
Another example: W.P. MK class 2-8-2's had cast 5 chimes or the same type of bronze Hancock short bell 3 chime that was also used on some of the 401 class 4-6-6-4's & 251 class 2-8-8-2's. Few classes of Western steam locomotives on the bigger roads were limited to all having the same whistle.
