I happened across this 5-chime steam whistle of unknown make and origin amongst the plethora of train-related items my late grandfather had. He was probably the biggest train-buff you would ever come across, possessing items ranging from Texas Midland dining sets to his own Pullman passenger coach. Anyways, I was curious as to what this whistle is and, more importantly, if it can be restored again. It's obviously missing at least one component, the valve (?) which connects the lever to the whistle itself. I'm also concerned about the corrosion and wear of the whistle. I figured if there was anyone who would know about this whistle and what I need to get it operating again, it would be your folks. I'm hoping it's a D&RG 5-chime. If it is, and this may sound incredibly naive, is there anyway I could have it temporarily hooked up to one of the K-36s of the C&TS. Pics are below, and if more close-up or detailed shots are needed for ID verification and/or to see what parts are missing, I will gladly provide them. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
