Out of curiosity, I picked up a copy of "Live Steam" magazine in the fall of 1999. It has an ad for a company by the name of "Little Engines", but it may not be, is probably not, the same firm. The location is not the same, although it is in California.
I noticed the ad because I had a very disappointing experience with "Little Engines" in the 1960's. I built one of their 4-4-0's. The drawings had many mistakes, some of the castings had serious flaws, the cast bronze boiler sweated so badly it was unusable, and so forth. Fortunately, I had access to a good machine shop and a foundry at the time. (I was teaching.) So, the locomotive finally came out OK. Today, it is owned by my old friend Charlie Givens, and is at his place in Washington state. He has converted it to coal (from my white gas), and intends to run it.
