Gettysburg RR ex CP1278 Fireman failed to use and check Boiler Check Valves to confirm the height of water in glass to be correct. Failed to blow down the glass daily because that wears out the valves (too costly!). Their policy was against all boiler rules of safe conduct. The #1278 is now in Ohio and is possibly repairable with a new crown sheet, plus.
