Hi,
Throwing rocks, bottles, tires and other items at trains were a daily occurrence if I understand my relatives from the PRR.
Here in Atlanta, it did not seem to be as pervasive as in Harrisburg, PA. However, in the late 1980s or early 1990's, the kids got to the point of throwing bricks and cinder blocks off of bridges over interstate highways. The straw that broke the camel's back was when one went through the windshield of an SUV or car (don't recall for sure) and it killed the woman driving (the sole occupant). What got everyone up in arms was she was 6 months pregnant. After that, "safety" fencing on all highway bridges were installed (a side effect was the increase in building costs for new bridges to protect the public from the perpetrators).
Why can't they see that what they are doing is wrong and dangerous?
Oh well, I guess it takes all types.
