Throwing rocks at trains is a bad business. Much more serious than the frequent "mooning" we get at the High School area.
However, on a light note, in Buster Keaton's "Our Hospitality" (1923), we see one result of throwing rocks that yields a resupply of the farmer's woodpile. The farmer throws rocks at the engineer, who in turn throws firewood from the tender back at the farmer. The farmer quickly gathers up his wood, all nicely cut to length and split.
For this film Keaton built a working replica of one of America's earliest woodburners. Copies of the film are on Turner's site, as well as elsewhere. I strongly recommend the film.
