Well said Ian, and Geode. Geode thanks for the compliment. We try our best to "preserve" what is a big part of Colorado history, but we have made changes that aren't historicly accurate but they are changes that probly would have happend if the railroad had kept on going.
But the railroad did evolve things as times changed just like we do, and that in a way is historicly correct. take the CHAMA for example, it was not always a Parlor car. The DRGW converted it in 1937, and sometime in the late 50s we needed a combine so we rebuilt into one. The Alamosa on the D&S is not original inside, the D&S remodeled it as they needed to better suit there needs.(The Durango on the other hand is just as it was when it left the DRGW for those that didn't know)
And you are right we did have to get management to say yes to returning the equipment back to DRGW and RGS livery. And thankfully we have gotten alot of compliments since we returned them back to there Colorado appearance then when they had the diamond stacks big cow catcher and bright flashy paint.
I haven't been with knotts long but I have put my blood and sweet into preserving what left of the railroads. And I can't wait to put more hard work into keeping 41, 340, and the goose running for many years to come so people can ride them for fun,or come marvel at a wonderfull piece of Colorado narrowgauge.
