The real sin is that HIDEOUS gash across the face of Windy point where the new highway runs. They should have followed the original alignment behind the snowshed, under the railroad and out around the little pond 1/2 mile or so to the south - with much wider curves, of course - but this would also have meant a completely new bridge to the west of the water column to allow a much wider road to pass under the tracks.   But it would have eliminated a very dangerous multi-track grade crossing, and incidents like the one last year wouldn't be happening ...
