October 10, 1945 was a Wednesday. Otto Perry was usually out and about on weekends and US holidays when he wasn't on his day job with the US Postal Service spinning smiley sticking its tongue out. You will also note that the photo is DPL RR-152 which means it is taken by Bob Richardson not Otto. Uncle Bob had a little more freedom to roam during the week from his day job in Alamosa and would have been closer to Dolores as well vs. Otto out of Denver.

Now if we could just get the wheels rolling to rebuild the line out of Dolores into Lost Canyon then just maybe a scene like this might be possible again....unfortunately another posters request here on the NGDF for more information this past week on the progress of this endeavor with the Galloping Goose group did not receive any response which may speak volumes about the project.
