I watched a program on A&E recently that featured Dan with Eureka and several other steam operations. One was Ross Rowland with his huge standard gauge engine. He said he had operated pretty much very vehicle short of the space shuttle and that the 1218 (I think that was the number) was the most enjoyable of all. Granted I don't speak from experience, but I think there must be some satisfaction in being at the controls of 100 tons of locomotive pulling a train full of people. I did get to ride in the cab of Graham County 1925 once and look forward to doing in again. I liked it alot.
