From Cafky's "Colorado Midland"
"...officials felt the Santa Fe Jull might work out well on their standard gauge track."
"...the Santa Fe Jull and its pushing engines made fair progress, ..."
"Twenty-four hours after leaving Leadville, the Jull outfit reached Busk and stormed up the main line..."
(all pg. 49)
"...started to the relief of the west end rotary outfit via Denver & Rio Grande ... slides ... in Glenwood Canyon ... Jull helped Rio Grande crews clear tracks."
(p. 94)
At this point the Midland's only rotary was stuck east of Sellar with a busted drawbar on the tank & another rotary had been borrowed (from god alone knows where) and was working the east side. Once it freed the CM rotary, the Jull was sent back around to the Leadville side (Via D&RG again) where it was held in reserve and used to keep the line up to Busk clear whilst the borrowed rotary worked furthur up the hill. It also covered for the borrowed rotary when that machine needed some adjustments made (CM had broken it while the Jull was on the west wide, resulting in a team of guys having to get a 500+ lb casting from leadville to where it was stuck above Busk via sleds & skis!).
All in all the Jull seems to have been the most trouble-free of the 3 machines CM was using to fight the blockade!
