It's more in the Ingersollian style, which the author mentions in this installment. Edward Ingersol was an author/writer/editor for Harpers magazine who wrote many travel and nature pieces in the late 1800's into the 1930's. His "Crest of the Continent" published in 1885, which is a travelogue written while he accompanied W.H. Jackson (the photographer)) in the 1880's is well worth reading. Beebe's style was similar, but perhaps a poor copy.
