Matt Crull & Midwest Crew:
Great job on restoring your two D&RGW 6200 series flat cars! The pictures you have posted are great in explaining the sequence and assembly of the car parts.
I have a couple of questions in reviewing your website and about the history of this series of flat cars. The side sill steel reinforcing looks to me to be very similar to the metal that I see on the D&RGW 9600 series gondolas which originally began life as standard gauge D&RGW 66000-66999 box cars. The hole patterns in these parts just looks too similar that it made me think perhaps the metal reinforcing of the sills also had its origin from the same series of standard gauge boxcars. I am not sure but I think Fowler draft gear was also used on the 66000 series boxcars.
The only detail that I notice where you may have deviated from D&RGW practice was in the deck boards which I believe were a "ship lap" configuration to keep materials from falling through the "cracks".
Again, extremely nice work and documentation of one of the most versatile of the D&RGW flat car fleet.
