Jim: Photoshop is an amazing piece of software. To anyone interested in making their photos pop so much more, invest the time to learn the product. I have a similar picture I am planning to “destroy”, and will post it when done.
Jerry & Fred: thank you for the facts, and setting the story straight. Hard to argue any of that!
Looking at the big picture, I see it as a great experience to see a locomotive built in the late 1800s, restored to operating condition after rusting in a park for 50 years, and to pull D&RGW freight trains for rail fans & photographers on rails once owned by the Rio Grande, on 64 miles of track new to the engine. Quite a few times on runbys I put the camera down and just watched.
John & I were very fortunate to be out at the C&TS for the two weeks while both #315 and the Goose were there, and to befriend and interact with both Societies. To say the experiences, sights and sounds were worth every penny spent is an understatement.
We will be there next summer to do it again; hoping for more of the same from 315 & Goose #5, as well as the C&TS.
I will continue to contribute to the DRHS, the Goose, and the C&TS Friends; is there a better place to step back in time?
Matthew
PS: To the powers that be, I for one am hoping to see an operational RGS #20 chasing the Goose on the C&TS someday.....
