The C-18 class were primarily branch line and switch engines through the 20s and 30s. Number 317 was the Crested Butte yard engine for many years until being used on the Pagosa Springs run.

With all the photos of the 315 in Salida, and two possible routes to Durango, I think your bucket has a hole in it if you want to flat out deny the 315 ever ran via Cumbres. Even Otto and Dick and others couldn't physically cover the entire railroad 100% of the time.
