Stopping an urban legend.

When was the last time you were near the Sherrod Loop? I've been up to the Alpine Tunnel area many, many times over the years, and I have NEVER seen a hint of any remaining track on the Sherrod Loop. I would hate to see anyone holding out false hopes and go traipsing up there. In addition, the land that the Loop is on is a private inholding and is not in the National Forest. Therefore, any casual visitation would be tresspassing on private property.

Did you personally take that picture? And consider this. Those ties look in surprisingly good shape for a railroad which has essentially been abandoned since about the turn of the century.

If I am wrong on any of this I will be the first to offer my apologies. But in the interest of putting this matter to rest, could you furnish us more definitive information. Like when and where was the photo REALLY taken, and by whom - for openers.

Sorry to be so blunt, but this story needs to be quickly buried before it grows legs.
