Mom's website is a work-in-progress (it will be YEARS before we get all of her art scanned, touched up, and posted), and has already benefited from your input.
I'm going to compromise between Scott's and Bill's suggestions, and keep the text purple but darken it from #990099 to #660066 or #660060 - the color was chosen originally to go along with the theme of a local cafe & art gallery where my mom had a one-woman show in May, 2000, and we want to keep things a bit colorful but not TOO bright to go along with - but not detract from - the flowers. I'll probably shrink the text on the headers, too. The "font" was developed for the 2000 show based on mom's 'signature' on a few of her 1948 drawings, and needs to be darkened as well.
... and now you know why there haven't been so many postings from "El Curmudgeono Loco" lately!
