Riding on Lucky 7/11

July 13, 2008 07:53PM
The train was not very full at all. A little bit past Fir, the lead truck of the first coach derailed. After about 3 hours, a locomotive with some rerailing material appeared. After another two hours, they decided to pull the rest of the train back to Alamosa. During these 5 hours, we were not allowed off the train. Not a very good first impression of my first ride. If a similar derailment happened on the G&Q in Ecuador, which I witnessed many times, they would have rerailed the car using wood blocks & rocks in about an hour!
