Fred, FWIW I recently acquired a slide scanner (Nikon DS-4000 CoolScan) and have been busy posting some of my results here on the board. While digital is nice and gives great results (I'm currently using a Nikon D-80) I was surprised to see the size of file the scanner is capable of generating. My digicam has a 10 megapixel sensor and can generate a file up to around 8 Meg in size (in a RAW format), while the scanner can take a nice 35mm slide (Kodachrome or Fuji E6) and generate a RAW file that is 111 Meg in size... and the quality is actually much better than the digislide. Not that you'd notice on a screen though... but still, maybe I should consider picking up another film body while they are dirt cheap! Eventually the digital images will catch up in quality, but it still has a long ways to go!
