This question should be on a FAQ page somewhere. Anyway you answer it you come up with good points.
To be more creative in answering, I will say that the best half of the railroad is above 8800 feet in elevation. Mountain passes, big bridges, snow sheds, snow, canyons... what is not to like? Well, its cool that there are all those neat maintenance facilities at the lower elevations too, and faster running on moderate grades is kind of neat. Hmm maybe its just as good at lower elevations.
Or you could answer it... from the railhead, below, is the best part. Where else do you find such a railroad facility intact? Buildings, bridges, line poles, mountain cuts and fills... its great engineering! You can find similar narrow gauge trains elsewhere in other collections, maybe even indoors in better condition. Well, there are some rare pieces I guess, and geez where else do you see so many old gondolas or cattle cars or boxcars all in one place? Hmmm maybe it is better above the railhead.
Aww I can't decide!
