Its been several years since I stayed in Alamosa, but stayed at the older Holiday Inn several times over the years (the Express has been built in the years since) But have always had good experiences with them. In fact, the last time I was in Alamosa was around 1999 when Goose #5 took my son and I westbound over Cumbres to Chama; my son has great reflections of that trip and made a semi-railfan out of him!
