Check out the Colorado Rail Annual 1969 issue on the Chili Line On page 46, the 4-wheel MW 02 sits behind #470 and train at old Embudo.
A story oft-told by D&RGW employees is how the MW 02 rear-ended a train near Monero , back in the early 1960s. Seems the fire crew stopped for Cokes at Mercure's store at Lumberton ,and let the time slip away ,They hurried to catch up ,but the train was stalled for reasons long forgotten . In high r.r. tradition , the damaged vehicle was towed to Oxford , next to a section man's farm , where it was covertly repaired . The officials were nexer the wiser .
