I have a blurry 127 Brownie shot of MW02 in the Durango roundhouse in 1967.
I guess John was too busy looking at steam locomotives to notice the MW02.
MW02 is a Fairmont Inspection car. It was a stock item (I don't know it's model designation). It was built as a 4 wheel, 2 axle machine. Appearently it kept derailing while on high speed inspection trips, so a 4 wheel lead truck was made along with a massive front hood whose job is not to cover the engine (it's inside between the fron seats), but to add wieght to keep the front end on the rails. Somewhere in time, the original engine was replaced with what I understand is a 1948 Mercury (Ford) flathead V-8 (old hot rodders love it).
