I don't think parking will really be a problem. The existing parking lot is not at all convenient to the Durango station, especially when the gate is closed! When the gate isn't open, passengers have a very long walk around the block to get from the parking area to the depot. Also, remember that area of the Durango *gained* parking spots when the north yard was ripped out.

I think the development is a good thing. Every time I've been to Durango, I have been surprised that such a valuable piece of real estate was being wasted on an aggregate-surface parking area.

The article seems to indicate that the center of the development will feature a locomotive on display. I assume one of the K-37s will end up there and, honestly, I think that ensures she will be maintained to a high cosmetic standard.
