Regards the photo of the 340 in the previous thread, I'm not sure of the date as I am not sure who took it. The combine conversion was done sometime in the mid to late '50s. Like I said, we rode in the pristine "Chama" in the tiger-striped swivel seats back in '52. By the time I "rediscovered" Knott's narrow gauge in the early '60s it had been converted. The little window was where the kitchen was and has since been replaced with a full size one.
Also, the 340 was black, silver and gold back then and named "Gold Nugget." By the time I started going up there she was back to her original name of "Green River" with a largely dark green paint scheme with red and silver trim and still carrying the number "40."
The jacket, cab and tender look black in this old slide but they were actually a very dark green.
