Theme Park Baldwin question

June 01, 2008 03:57PM
We just spent the weekend as a family in San Antonio. My son and I spent the day at the Fiesta theme park while the females shopped in S.A.

A tiny 3 ft. gauge 2-4-0 Baldwin served as the motive power for the train while we were there. It was numbered 601.

The limited yard set-up seemed to indicate that there are two locomotives at the facility - this based on the fact that there is a two stall locomotive shed.

I am curious, does anyone know if this little Baldwin began life as a 2-4-0 or gained her lead truck due to the incredibly sharp turns she has to deal with at the theme park?

Does anyone know the history of where this little locomotive came from?

Does she have a sister on the property?

Was she always a tender locomotive or did she have side or saddle tanks at one time?

By the way, the fireman was a young lady.

It was a hot day.

Also, what happened to the steam locomotives at the now abandoned/closed/gone Astroworld facility?
