In my notes regarding the SVRy AFE's I show that with AFE #119 in May of 1919, they installed new track scales. The following is the data on the "new" track scales:# 6018 Fairbanks Type G, 100 ton Cap., type registering beam, complete with 10' x 51' platform, scales were for narrow and std. ga. cars. Originally the scales had timber beams which were replaced under AFE #494 on 12-15-38, with I beams. I beams were 4 pcs 24" x 26'6". Scale house was 6' x 10' frame building on mud sills. These scales were retired under a very long (36 page) AFE that retired many of the rr's structures #618 6-3-47.
I always feel like bowing my head in silence when I read this retirement stuff. On the other hand with the various extant maps coupled with the AFE's and cubic dollars, we could rebuild the entire rr, or like David is doing for a few less cubic dollars build it in his basement!winking smiley
