Your right, it isn't the Friends job, or place to give updates on items such as the 487 issue. The Commission, or at least the operator, should have that duty.
When you compare the CATS to the D&S, they are apples and oranges. One is a private company which we find out'inside information' by employees who read and post here. The only real comparison I can think of is the Georgetown Loop, which gets micromanaged by all of us 'experts' pretty regularly.
The commission either doesn't see the need, or doesn't want to put any updates out about how things are going in the shops at both ends. I myself see it as a P/R tool, to build interest and excitement of people surfing the net interested in narrow gauge. Unfortunately, whether we want to admit it to ourselfs or not, we are the small minority of the people riding the train. Most people are well served by the schedule and the cost of the train ride. Any suggestions?
