Thanks to John and all for the kind thoughts and prayers. My mom just turned 90 a week before her death. I was lucky to have her with me this long.
The only thing that my mom ever did that really ticked me off was that in 1945, we were living in Farmington, NM. My dad had been on a project to build a pipe line from Gallup to Farmington and the company wanted him to stay there as maintenance manager on the north end of the line. My mom did not like New Mexico at all (we are from Louisiana). Farmington was not a great place to live in 1945 with all the rationing.
We left Farmington in the fall of 45, taking the San Juan from Durango to Alamsoa, the D&RGW standard gauge from Alamsoa to Pueblo and the C&S/FWD to Texas.
The only photo she had that had anything to do with the D&RGW was me in front of the depot with an unknown K27 in at the edge of the photo.
