Correct: Minefield is the code name for what will become Firefox 3; the first Release Candidate for FF 3 should be ready relatively soon.

As for changing the code to recognize Minefield/FF3, I understand completely. For providers of FF extensions, themes, etc. the worst part is that sometimes things change literally overnight. My newsreader extension was an example of that a week or two ago, when it stopped working as soon as I had installed the latest nightly update. As luck would have it, the programmer of the extension was available and quickly provided a code change, which I--with my very limited understanding of such matters--was able to make, restoring the extension to a working condition.
