I also visited last Sept. during the NG convention and had a great time. I happened to be wearing my FEBT restoration crew t-shirt, which sparked a conversation with the train crew, leading to a cab ride around the yard. The guys are really having fun with their RR.

The only downside was on the way there, I got stuck in a major traffic jam on Rt. 1 entering Wiscasset, prior to the turnoff onto Rt. 218, I wish I'd had with me a detailed local map to avoid downtown Wiscasset. Does anyone have a better route to suggest, perhaps get off of I-295 north of Brunswick, then take back roads thru Richmond - Hatch's Corner - Dresden - Head Tide - Alna ???

I should note this was on the Sat. of the Labor day holiday weekend, is it always so jammed up on Rt. 1 there?
