For those with a copy of the reprint of the 1930 Locomotive Cyclopedia, there is a drawing of a long oiler on page 564.
I made a small miscalculation, the capy should be 2-3 pints according to the drawing.
The trick would be to make it out of good sturdy stuff with quality soldering. I would think there would be a market for a quality long oiler equipped with a shut off valve. I'b buy one.
