The ET&WNC/Tweetsie started out the war with 5 engines 9,10,11,12,and 14.
In may of 1942 the army purchased #10 and #14 and took them to the White Pass. The other three continued operating. The Tweetsie ended up being a very busy railroad line running commuter trains to the rayon plants in Elizabethton almost around the clock. #11 and #9 mostly handled almost the passenger runs, while #12 moved the freight between johnson city and cranberry. In 1943 #10 and #14 were burned in a roundhouse fire in Whitehorse.

On a different note, when USA #190 came to Tweetsie RR in 1960 it came with one of the SVRR tenders. Were not sure which one but the markings on the frame suggest it was built in 1916.
