Brian, there may have been a dialogue going on for several years (late 30's early 40's) between the WP&Y and SVRy that laid the ground work for the sale of 19 and 20. I have not seen any other documentation of this beyond word of mouth. Jim Grigsby told me that he was told by Floyd Carpenter SVRy's long time master mechanic that he was hired by the WP&Y to consult on the design of the 70 class. I think Jim said Floyd went to Skagway, but I am not certain this is right. Maybe Jim will see this and care to comment.
