Number 375 was first used on the Crested Butte branch when it was received from the CF&I. The D&RG got almost all of the Crystal River rolling stock and motive power, becasue the Crystal River was owned by the CF&I. The D&RG got 360, 361, 375, 45 Ingolsby dump cars, Rotary AB2 (later renumbered to OO), Flanger AB1 (later renumbered to OT).

After a few years on the Crested BUtte branch, the 375 was moved to Durango for use on the Silverton branch. The 360 and 361 were used from Gunnison to Cimarron and Montrose and sometimes on the Crested Butte branch. The moniker "little mudhen" was given to them by the D&RG crews in Gunnison after the 375 had been moved to Durango. Not sure if they intended for the term to apply to it or not.

Bob Richardson tried to purchase C21 Number 361 in 1951 after it was damaged in a snow slide on the Crested Butte branch. Someone in the D&RGW did not want him to have it and they rushed the scrapping of it at Pueblo before he could do anything to save it.
