Hi, Keith -
I'm not trying to bait anyone - just expressing my opinion as many others are expressing theirs. And my question as to the specifications for
D&RGW "Russian Black" paint * was meant to be taken seriously. (I haven't had time this evening to read all threads yet, so maybe it has been answered.)
There is reasonable proof that the K-37s had green jackets when first outshopped by the D&RGW in 1929-30, and so far no-one has shown that Baldwin did not follow their usual practice in the mid-1920s and deliver the K-36s with other than Baldwin's customary green jackets. Hopefully someone can track down the original paperwork from Baldwin, post a photocopy, and settle the
historic question once and for all.

Regardless of whether any D&RGW K-36s had green jackets or not (other than #489, which did have a green jacket at least for a short time when used for Rocky Club excursion(s) around 1950), whether or not one of the
C&TS K-36s should be painted for a season or two to honor D&RGW standard gauge passenger colors of the mid-1930s is solely a matter of - apparently rather strong - opinion on both sides of the question.
Happy New Year!

It appears that, contrary to Baldwin's customary practice at the time, the K-36s were delivered with black jackets. The
historic question has apparently been answered.
