Andrew:
What a great image! I was impressed at a recent Narrow Gauge Convention to see the presentation by the gent who wrote the Mason Bogie book to hear that Mason got his start with sewing equipment, and thus developed a mission for clean lines free of obstructions that might snarl a thread. This thinking clearly carried over to Mason's locomotive designs. It is a shame one did not last!
To add some wood to the fire, I ran into a fellow from LA at the Durango convention last year. He claims to be an expert on 19th C colors, and contrary to past arguments that Tiffany Refers were either white or yellow, this gent submitted mint green! HA! Though I don't model the era, I just like the idea! I know the idea makes Derrell Poole's blood boil.
(And, shame on you Russo Loco for continuing to bait Jerry with green boiler jackets: the man has a right to his opinion.)
Merry Christmas one and all, and thanks for the continuing lively commentary (and thanks to Don, et al for keeping it up and running in a civil fashion)! There is always something to learn here.
