Rod, here's a top view of a Pyle-National like the ones on the K36s.
The socket that holds the main bulb is mounted to the bottom of the housing, physically separate from the reflector. A second socket might be found in the space behind the reflector, roughly centered (I'm not sure if it was standard equipment, or optional). You would access it by flipping up one of the side wings. I've never seen a headlight with any wiring or socketry in the wings themselves.
Regarding class lights, there were two different designs. The most common design had a lever on the housing - flip it to move a green filter into or out of the light path, changing the color of the light. There were some (mostly non-electric) class lights made like caboose markers, which can rotate - but I don't believe they were as popular in later years. I don't know how the lights used on K36s worked - I assume they're lever designs.
