A sad day indeed. Both of those machines were active into the 70's...the 168 was involved in the last 3 engine freight on the railroad on the Pacific Division in 1975.
Dave Sell & I sat up on 165's tender in the Puerto Barrios Yard on Easter Sunday in 1975 waiting to ride to Bananera & back on a "frutero". 165 was the mid-train helper & sister 174 (my all time favorite) was the road engine.
Both of these Krupps had dome throttles.
