RGS train #6 Oct. 20th, 1904

November 10, 2007 04:55PM
Train #6 - Dolores to Rico (actually Telluride).

Engine #15 left Dolores with"

Coalcar RGS #256
Coalcar RGs #252 - no entry on final destination or contents or tonnage on these two cars, I'm not sure thet they were gondolas, but they look like "c" in "type or car" column, maybe maintenance of way or passenger?
Boxcar D&RG #4176, 18 tons of coal, bound for Telluride
Boxcar D&RG #3275, 19 tons of coal, bound for Telluride
Coalcar D&RG #8810, 15 tons of "slacl", bound for Pandora (mine)
Coalcar D&RG #8875, 17 tons of coal, bound for Rico

At milepost 98 (stapleton???) they added two more boxcars on to the train, D&RG #3077 & D&RG # 3397, both loaded with 7 tons of "hay" each and both bound for Rico.

At Rico they lightened up the train for the pull over Lizard head. They dropped off all of the D&RG boxcars and proceeded with only the RGS cars #252, #256 and #54.

Whent they made it back ro Telluride yards, they picked up the following cars:
Coalcar D&RG #8848 , 20 tons of "lumber" bound for Telluride
Coalcar D&RG #7760 , 17 tons of "coal" bound for Telluride
Boxcar D&RG #4624, 16 tons of "coal" bound for telluride
Boxcar D&RG #3002, 23 tons of "timber" bound for Pandora
Boxcar D&RG #4051, 3 tons of "merchandise" bound for Telluride

All of these car were tehn taken from "oqu 1" or oqu 7" along with RGS cars to "aqr 5".

I REALLY wish I could figure out what this little three letters followed by a number.
The conductor only puts these in the "where taken" and "where left" columns when the train is in the Telluride area, but I have no idea what they mean, maybe mine tails?

Also the there are remarks about the first three D&RG cars that look like "B&C" , "Liberty Bell" , " T boy".
