It's almost embarrasing to agree with you 200% on two consecutive posts - but you're absolutely right!
Last time I looked, in spite of the greedy scum on both sides of the aisle in Washington - and in the White House - this was still a somewhat free country. It seems that Mr. Harper has simply suggested that Silverton could boost its economy by providing accomodations suitable to a significant number of well-off potential overnight visitors which his railroad would - and apparently could - supply, much to their mutual benefit. Major renovations to the interior of an existing structure to bring it up to at least
* if not
*** hotel and restaurant standards, while preserving the historic exterior, would likely have little effect on the overall character of the town. And I really like the idea posted subsequently that improved accomodations might spur winter operations on the railroad!
Just because I can't afford such luxury doesn't mean others should be denied the opportunity to spend their "hard earned" money - isn't that what the lazy-fare neocons mean by 'trickle down economy'?
