When the D&RGW standard gauged the branch, they pretty much stayed on the narrow gauge ROW except at the mine. They replaced the siding to the mine and wye with a loop yard.I am not sure if the spur siding up the mine qualiies as a switch back. The trains did back up to the mine sidings with empties. The loaded cars were dropped down to the yard via gravity. Following is a photo taken on the Garfield switch back in 1981 just prior to the last run.
