In my (aging) memory Gross Ton Miles includes empties, locos, cabooses, whatever. But looking at the chart some of the numbers don't make a lot of intuitive sense. That might reflect poor record keeping since nobody in Denver was paying much attention to the ng. other than the folks trying to get rid of it.
I know Weidman's and the mill at Juanita (MP385.9, a bit east of Juanita) shipped more or less right up to the end. I took pix of Weidman loading in 1967 and MP385.9 being switched in 1965. For some stupid reason (probably too busy chasing trains out of town) I never paid much attention to the mill(s) at Chama. Where there one or two, when did they close, and how late in the game did they ship. I guess they were switched early in the morning before a Cumbres turn, and I would be busy catching the action around the roundhouse. Anyone have pix of the lumber cars being loaded at Chama, I'm wondering what the track layout was and exactly where the cars were loaded.
