But well worth it — especially at the peak of fall colors, as there are always a couple of groves of aspen there that turn a much darker orange than most.
There's also a good spot to shoot west-bounds if you unload around MP 317.5 where there's a wide open hillside with plenty of room for 40 or 50 people that looks back toward MP 317.0. Here's a shot from the May, 2010 "Spring Green" excursion:
On day 4 of Pete Lerro's October 2012 charter, the train backed down to around 317.5 after lunch at Osier, dropped us off, and backed a long way past MP 317.0 – clearly visible in both of the following – for the run-by:
- El Abuelo Histœrico, Greengo y Curmudgeoño de los Locomoturas Viejos y Verdes,
